A Qatari student who wishes to be sponsored by Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) must make sure they meet their eligibility requirement of end of year average 80% or above. Once admitted by the ABP a Qatari student are expected to start their sponsorship file with MoEHE. If a Qatari student is sponsored by a business organizations letter from the sponsor is required and must certify that they sponsor the applicant and that all costs will be borne by the sponsoring organization. The letter must be brought to the ABP finance office Qatari students who are not eligible for HEI sponsorship may also be sponsored by private organizations or their families. Sponsor Information for Non-Qatari students Non-Qatari students are usually sponsored by their families. Non-Qatari students may also be sponsored by private organizations. If a non-Qatari student is sponsored by a private organization, they must provide a proof of sponsorship to the ABP finance office. The ABP offers a limited number of scholarships for non-Qatari students. These scholarships are based on academic achievement at the ABP in the first semester and on proof of financial need. There are no scholarships available in the first semester. Scholarships are for the second semester and only for the students who were enrolled and paid first semester fees. ABP Fees The student is responsible for all tuition and fees for the ABP unless the receives a statement of full support from a sponsoring agency. Corporate sponsorship and sponsorship from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) are often available for Qatari students. All students admitted to the ABP must do the placement test so they can enroll in classes. Students cannot enroll at the ABP without taking the test. The placement test is not a pass or fail test , it is designed to help determine the level of the students in the subjects (English, Math, Computers, and Science) they will be studying at the ABP. We; however, always stress to the students to do their best on the test so they are placed in the right level in each of these subjects. It is important to keep the three points below in mind when taking the placement test. - The tests are taken online, after the student is admitted an email is sent the student that includes the test link and credentials needed to log onto the test. - No Studying for these tests is required so make sure to go online and complete the test. The tests will take up to 3 hours to complete. - Cheating on the placement test would hurt students more than it helps since you would be placed in a course higher than your ability. If suspected of cheating the test results will be cancelled and students might be asked to redo the tests, or have their acceptance revoked. - Do your best on the Writing Sample and the (English, Math, and Computer) tests so you are not placed in a level lower than your ability. - Make sure to complete All the Sections on the test, Writing Sample, English Placement, Math Placements, and Computer Placement. - You need three hours to complete the whole test please make sure you a free for at least 3 hours and will not be distracted before starting the tests. - The Test will be in full screen so do not close the screen as you will not be able to resume the test. Close all other applications on your computer before starting the test. - Computer Cameras must be on the whole time during the exam. - Please refrain from using your phone during the exam as it will be considered cheating. - For the Math test use a regular calculator and not your phone Calculator - Students are responsible to make sure they are in a secluded quite place and dressed in the proper attire. - Females who wear hijab must make sure their hair is properly covered. - Any suspension of cheating during the test and if the face is not facing the camera the whole time, the ABP reserves the right to cancel your test score. Details about the four placement test components are below The Writing Sample is an essay in which students respond to a typical TESOL-type essay prompt. Students are given about 50 minutes in which to write their essay. In addition to English Placement Test and IELTS or TOEFL score, the writing sample is one a very important indicator that helps in placing the students in the appropriate English level. It is very important that you take your time writing the essay to the best of your ability. There is a 50 minutes time limit on the test . It is important that students take their time answering the writing prompt question. The test is intended to measure the student General Grammar and Comprehension skills. Along with the Writing Sample and IELTS/TOEFL scores the English Placement Test will help determine the which of the three English Levels below students will be placed. - Academic English (Advanced) - Foundation 2 (Intermediate) - Foundation 1 (Beginner) The test is intended to measure the student mathematical skills. It includes variety of questions that correspond to different mathematical concepts such as Basic Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. Based on your score we will then determine which one of the math levels below we will be placing you in. It is important that you try your best. - Liberal Arts Math - College Algebra - Pre-Calculus - Calculus It is important to keep the three points below in mind when taking the placement test. 1. Have a pencil and paper ready to use as scratch paper during the test 2. Have a calculator ready and Do Not Use a phone Calculator The test is intended to measure the student computer skills. It includes variety of questions that correspond to different ICT concepts related to knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and other essential computer skills.
